What is Senior Moments?
Senior Moments is a pop-up performance piece made by a spontaneously collected group of people for a one-off event which is live-choreographed (with no or little rehearsal) by Kristin Fredricksson & Rob Vesty.
The concept was born on 17 January 2010 at Theatre Royal, Margate. Kristin Fredricksson (Beady Eye) and Rob Vesty (Box Social) met at 10am that Sunday and toured the town talking to any older looking person they could meet.
They met Rodney & Bob and many others on that January day.
The day’s conversations inspired a set of ‘instructions’ that they would deliver from the wings to the participants at the ‘scratch’ performance event later that afternoon.
Rodney and Bob were two participants who had the faith to show up at the theatre at 4.30pm and Senior Moments started there.
Since January, Fredricksson & Vesty have won a microgrant from Big Dance 2010 for another Senior Moments event at Jackson’s Lane theatre on Sunday 4th July at 4pm. They will be recruiting soon from the Camden and Haringey areas.
They will also be taking the event to Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival in August 2010 thanks to support from Kent-based Year One Consulting. The event will be part of the Forest Fringe programme and will happen on Friday 20th August at 6pm.
